Summary

The RPI-HMI-080D/101D is an industrial all-in-one HMI touch display for Raspberry Pi 4 and 5. It combines an 8-inch or 10.1-inch DSI screen with 1280x800 resolution, ten-point capacitive touch input, optical bonding, and an aluminum alloy case with passive cooling.

Technical overview

  • DSI connection directly on the Raspberry Pi; display driver recognized without additional driver support under Bookworm
  • Two HDMI outputs supporting 4K@60Hz
  • Integrated 5-megapixel front camera via CSI interface
  • Aluminum alloy case with passive cooling and VESA-compatible embedded mounting
  • Tempered glass with hardness up to 6H; viewing angle 178°, max brightness 300 cd/m²
  • Input current must be at least 3 A, otherwise startup may fail or the display may malfunction
  • Available internal space between the Raspberry Pi PCB and the inside of the rear cover is approximately 19 mm – verify HAT compatibility based on actual dimensions
  • Supports both Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5; DSI/CSI connector positions differ between Pi 4 and Pi 5

Commands and examples – verify before use:

git clone https://github.com/waveshare/Waveshare-DSI-LCD
cd Waveshare-DSI-LCD
uname -a
sudo bash ./WS_xinchDSI_MAIN.sh 101C I2C0
sudo reboot
libcamera-hello -p 0,0,1280,800 -t 0 --width 1280 --height 800

Notes and version constraints

  • The commands in the 'Buster and Bullseye' section require a working internet connection; without it, installation will fail.
  • When connecting the FFC cables (CSI/DSI), pay attention to correct orientation and ensure the cable is fully inserted before locking the clamp.
  • When using a PoE HAT, the total power consumption of the Raspberry Pi, display, and peripherals must be covered by the PoE injector/switch.
  • Before mounting a HAT, compare its actual dimensions against the available 19 mm internal space; unconfirmed compatibility may cause malfunctions.
  • The referenced configuration lines (dtoverlay=...) are version-dependent; other OS versions may require manual driver installation.
