Technical overview

  • Compatible with all variants of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4).
  • Two RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports: one native via CM4, the other via USB expansion (RTL8153 chip).
  • The M.2 B KEY only extends the USB 3.0 interface; PCIe devices are not supported.
  • A Nano-SIM card is required for 4G/5G operation.
  • The 4G/5G module can be disabled or enabled via GPIO6; switching takes about 30 seconds.
  • The FAN header outputs 12 V by default; a 5 V fan requires reflowing the FAN_VCC resistor.
  • A 5 V power supply of at least 2.5 A is recommended.
  • No other devices should be connected while writing the image over USB Type-C.

Notes and version constraints

  • Do not hot-plug any devices except USB and HDMI.
  • Check the fan voltage before connecting; the default is 12 V.
  • When using the Bullseye branch, replace “apt-get” with “apt”; only Python 3 is supported.
  • RTC and CSI/DSI cannot be used simultaneously unless the I2C bus is switched to I2C1.
  • There is no official fan configuration method; the referenced solution is third-party and not endorsed by the manufacturer.
  • Exact compatibility and safety details depend on the specific CM4 variant (with/without antenna) and require individual verification.
