Summary

The ESP32-S3-Relay-6CH is an industrial 6-channel WiFi relay module based on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller. It provides WiFi, Bluetooth LE, RS485, and Pico-compatible HAT interfaces, along with multiple isolation circuits for AIoT applications.

Technical overview

  • Based on an ESP32-S3 with an Xtensa LX7 dual-core processor (up to 240 MHz), 2.4 GHz WiFi, and Bluetooth LE
  • Six relay channels in 1NO/1NC form; contact rating per channel: up to 10 A at 250 V AC or 10 A at 30 V DC
  • Power supply via screw terminal supporting 7–36 V DC or via USB Type-C (5 V / 1 A)
  • Integrated optocoupler, digital, and power-isolation circuits protect the control electronics from interference in the load circuit
  • RS485 interface with an optional 120 Ω termination resistor that can be enabled through a jumper
  • Pico-compatible HAT headers allow connecting expansion modules such as RTC, CAN, RS232/RS485, LoRa, or sensors
  • Status indicators show operating state: PWR (power), RXD/TXD (RS485 receive/transmit), WS2812 RGB LED on GP38, and a passive buzzer on GP21
  • Dimensions are approximately 88 mm height × 122 mm width; the enclosure supports DIN-rail mounting for secure installation
  • Development environments include Arduino IDE (with ESP32 board support) and MicroPython via Thonny; demo projects cover WiFi access point, station mode, MQTT, and full-control scenarios
  • Simultaneous use of multiple communication paths (WiFi, BLE, RS485) is possible depending on project requirements

Notes and version constraints

  • The exact pin mapping for external RS485 devices depends on the specific Modbus RTU module; verify the correct address and baud rate
  • When flashing over USB, driver issues may occur on macOS; install the appropriate driver and retry
  • With inductive loads (motors, coils, lamps), inrush current can greatly exceed the rated value; ensure sufficient current margin
  • Always cut off power before maintenance, wiring, or replacing the relay
  • Do not operate in humid, dusty, flammable, or explosive environments
  • If RS485 communication is unreliable, move the jumper to enable the 120 Ω termination resistor and retest
