Technical overview

  • Processor: StarFive JH7110 with four RISC-V U74 cores (64-bit V64GC ISA), clock speed up to 1.5 GHz.
  • Graphics: Integrated GPU 'IMG BXE-4-32' supporting OpenCL 3.0, OpenGL ES 3.2, and Vulkan 1.2.
  • Memory: Available in 4 GB or 8 GB LPDDR4 configurations.
  • Storage: Supports external SD cards and eMMC storage.
  • Video: Decodes 4K@60fps and H.264/H.265 multi-stream video; encodes 1080p@30fps with H.265 multi-stream.
  • Interfaces: M.2 M-Key SSD slot, MIPI CSI (2-lane), HDMI 2.0 (4K@30fps or 2K@60fps), two MIPI DSI ports (only one usable at a time), four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet, TF card slot, and a 40-pin GPIO header (Raspberry Pi compatible).
  • Power: Accepts 5V DC (min. 3A, up to 30W) via Quick Charge, 5–20V fixed voltage inputs, USB-C PD 2.0 (9/12/15/20V), and QC 3.0/2.0 adapters.
  • Dimensions: 100 × 74 × 21 mm. Recommended ambient temperature: 0–50 °C; if the chip exceeds 85 °C, CPU frequency and voltage are automatically reduced for cooling.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

Notes and version constraints

  • Compatibility of the ECR660U WiFi module depends heavily on the Debian version; it only works with systems from 202302 onwards.
  • CSI camera support is limited to IMX219 sensors and requires a regular user account (not root) on Debian systems from 202306 onwards.
  • DSI touch functionality is available only from Debian 202303; older versions can only power the DSI without touch capability.
  • For HDMI pink screen issues, run the script /opt/disable_monitor_color.sh and reboot; rerun the script when switching monitors as it is tied to the display device ID.
  • If only 4 GB RAM is detected despite purchasing 8 GB, the Debian or flash firmware version is too old; download the latest Debian image and update the flash firmware.
  • YOCTO is not supported on the VisionFive2 RISC-V platform.
  • A minimum 32 GB SD card is recommended for installing the Debian system due to the large image size.
  • To boot via SD card, set both DIP switches on the board to the right (ON) position; to boot directly with the SD card, toggle the switch to the left side.
