Technical overview

  • Sensor: Sony SONY IMX462LQR-C STARVIS, 1/2.8 inch, back-illuminated pixels, 2.07 MP, resolution up to 1920×1080
  • Image processing: onboard ISP; AE/AWB plus manual modes; 2D/3D noise reduction; enhancements such as backlight compensation, DOL-WDR and defogging
  • Lens options: 99° model (FOV 99.1° diagonal / 83.5° horizontal / 44.6° vertical, F1.0, focal length 4.0 mm) and 127° model (FOV 127.9° diagonal / 106.9° horizontal / 56.9° vertical, F1.61, focal length 3.18 mm), both fixed-focus
  • Raspberry Pi integration: IMX462 is not a default RPi camera, so a separate V4L2 driver (veyecam2m) must be installed; only official Raspberry Pi OS is supported, other systems are not currently supported
  • Enable I2C: sudo raspi-config → Interface Options → I2c → Yes
  • Driver installation: download raspberrypi_v4l2.tgz, extract, cd into release/, run chmod +x *, then sudo ./install_driver.sh veyecam2m
  • Raspberry Pi 5: additional media-graph setup required after each boot: run sudo ./find_entity.sh and sudo ./media_setting_rpi5.sh veyecam2m from the rpi5_scripts directory
  • GStreamer preview: gst-launch-1.0 v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! "video/x-raw,format=(string)UYVY, width=(int)1920, height=(int)1080,framerate=(fraction)30/1" ! autovideosink sync=false -v
  • Parameter configuration: use the veye_mipi_i2c.sh script to read/write parameters such as wdrmode, videoformat, mirrormode, denoise, agc, lowlight, daynightmode, ircutdir, irtrigger, mushutter, cameramode, brightness, aespeed, contrast, saturation, sharppen, wdrtargetbr, wdrbtargetbr, awbgain, wbmode, mwbgain
  • Operating conditions: temperature range −10 °C to 60 °C, humidity ≤ 95 % without condensation

Notes and version constraints

  • The provided driver currently supports only the official Raspberry Pi OS; other operating systems are not supported
  • On Raspberry Pi 5, the media-graph setup must be run after every boot before the camera can be used normally
  • The mshutter parameter is only valid in low-light environments
  • The effect of wdrbtargetbr depends on the actual scene; there is an invalid range [0-X] where X is scene-dependent
  • Configuration on 64-bit systems such as Raspbian Bullseye is stated in the FAQ as not possible
  • For TCP streaming, x.x.x.x must be replaced with the actual Raspberry Pi IP address
  • Jetson Nano steps are version-sensitive (JetPack 4.x, 5.x, 6.x); exact commands need confirmation per version
