Summary

The 11.9-inch DSI LCD is a capacitive touchscreen with an IPS panel (320×1480) for Raspberry Pi systems. It connects via the DSI interface and supports several Pi models and selected Linux images.

Technical overview

  • Resolution 320×1480, IPS panel, five-point capacitive input, toughened glass with up to 6H hardness.
  • Connects through the Raspberry Pi's DSI interface; depending on the model, use either a 12 cm DSI cable (Pi5/CM5/CM4/CM3+/CM3) or a 15-pin FPC cable (Pi4B/3B+/3B/3A+).
  • Operating voltage is nominally 5 V (acceptable range 4.75–5.30 V); input current must be at least 0.5 A, otherwise startup failures or display abnormalities may occur.
  • Works with Bookworm, Bullseye, and Buster operating systems; on Trixie/Bookworm, display and touch can be rotated synchronously, while older systems require manual touch rotation adjustments.
  • Backlight brightness is software-controllable; the display supports a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz.
  • On Buster, the driver can be installed manually or flashed as a pre-installed image; after that, the relevant dtoverlay entries may need to be added to config.txt.
  • For the lite version, display rotation is controlled via cmdline.txt, e.g. 'video=DSI-1:320x1480M@60,rotate=90'.
  • Touch operation can be disabled by adding 'disable_touchscreen=1' at the end of config.txt; the change takes effect only after a reboot.

Notes and version constraints

  • Excessive input voltage or improper operation may cause permanent damage.
  • If the input current is below 0.5 A, startup failures or display abnormalities may occur; remaining in an abnormal state for a long time can also lead to permanent damage.
  • Avoid storing the panel in high-temperature, high-humidity environments; operating outside specified limits may damage the panel.
  • After a system update on Buster, originally installed driver files may be overwritten; the driver must be reinstalled.
  • When changing the motherboard (e.g., from Pi4B to Pi3B+), the appropriate driver must be reinstalled because Pi4 and Pi3 require different driver files.
  • Rotation instructions are version-dependent: synchronous rotation is supported only on Trixie/Bookworm; on Bullseye/Buster, touch rotation must be configured manually.
  • The wlr-randr commands work only under Labwc/Wayfire, not under X11; xset dpms works only under X11, not under Labwc/Wayfire.
