Summary

The SIM7600G-H 4G DTU is an industrial 4G data transmission unit based on the SIM7600G-H module. It supports global LTE bands, GNSS positioning (GPS, Beidou, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS), and USB, UART, RS232, and RS485 interfaces for cellular network communication.

Technical overview

  • Operating bands: LTE-FDD B1–B8, B12, B13, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28, B66; LTE-TDD B34, B38, B39, B40, B41; UMTS/HSPA+ B1, B2, B4, B5, B6, B8, B19; GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.
  • Data rates: 4G (LTE Cat-4) up to 150 Mbit/s downlink, 50 Mbit/s uplink; 3G (HSPA+) 42 Mbit/s DL / 5.76 Mbit/s UL; 2G (EDGE) 236.8 kbit/s both directions.
  • Supply voltage range: 7–36 V DC via terminals or a 12 V DC connector; idle current 10–30 mA at 12 V, transmit current 80–450 mA depending on network conditions.
  • Serial communication: RS232 via DB9 female with TVS/surge protection; RS485 via terminal block (A/B) with 600 W lightning protection and 15 kV ESD protection; TTL UART at 3.3 V or 5 V levels.
  • USB interface: Micro-USB, 5 V, used for parameter configuration, NDIS/RNDIS dial-up, and firmware updates.
  • AT command set based on 3GPP TS 27.007, 27.005, and V.25TER; default baud rate 115200 bps, configurable from 300 bps to 921600 bps.
  • Onboard STM8 microcontroller acts as a hardware watchdog and reboots the device on abnormal operation.
  • Operating temperature range: −40 °C to 80 °C; housing is anodized aluminum with CNC machining.
  • GNSS reception: GPS, Beidou, GLONASS, GALILEO, and QZSS; outdoor clear-sky conditions required, performance limited in rain.
  • Standard accessories include a high-gain main LTE antenna (~3 m), auxiliary LTE paddle antenna, GPS antenna, serial cable, USB cable, and a 12 V/1 A power supply.

Notes and version constraints

  • The shipped firmware does not support transparent serial data transmission; choose the SIM7600CE-CNSE variant if that feature is required.
  • GNSS positioning requires open sky and about one minute of acquisition time; it will not work reliably in rain.
  • Firmware upgrades may fail if the USB cable is low quality or the driver is missing; administrator privileges and a stable cable are recommended.
  • The command AT+CUSBPIDSWITCH=9011,1,1 causes the device to reboot – ensure no active connections before running it.
  • Some steps are version-sensitive (e.g., QDL tool V1.41); verify the exact firmware version before upgrading.
  • Secondary development uses the provided Open Linux SDK; specific implementation details must be worked out by the developer.
