Notes and version constraints

  • The line gpu_mem=512 applies to standard Raspberry Pi models; for the Pi Zero series it must be changed to gpu_mem=256.
  • When using a Raspberry Pi 4, the dtverlay vc4-fkms-V3D must be enabled.
  • If the screen stays black despite an HDMI signal: connect the HDMI cable first, then plug in the power supply (or re-plug the power).
  • The AIDA64/Wallpaper Engine tutorial involves external downloads and paid software; these steps require human confirmation and local adjustments.
  • Some motherboards require the HDMI cable to be connected before powering on – the sequence may be motherboard-dependent.
  • Exact power consumption depends on brightness state; other operating states are not specified.
