The 1.14-inch LCD module (WSAL18231) is an IPS display with 240×135 pixels and an ST7789VW controller. It connects via SPI, supports 3.3 V/5 V operating voltage, and uses the RGB565 color format.

Technical overview

  • SPI protocol: CPHA/CPOL determine clock behavior; SPI0 (CPHA=0, CPOL=0) is commonly used
  • Maximum power consumption: 90 mA at 5 V or 29.5 mA at 3.3 V

Notes and version constraints

  • STM32 pin mapping refers to the XNUCLEO-F103RB example board; adapt for other boards
  • On Bookworm systems only lgpio is available; bcm2835 and wiringPi cannot be installed
  • FBCP is incompatible with the Bookworm system; Bullseye is recommended
  • Ensure no other device occupies the SPI bus before use (check /boot/config.txt)
  • Power supply: do not mix 3.3 V and 5 V supply voltages
