Summary

The binocular stereo vision expansion board is designed for the Raspberry Pi Compute Modules CM3, CM3 Lite, CM3+, and CM3+ Lite. It provides three camera ports (CAM0 enabled by default; CAM1/CAM3 selectable via GPIO38), a DSI port, USB, a 36-pin GPIO header with a UART adapter, and a 24-pin HDMI extension connector. It also includes a DS1307 RTC chip with a CR1220 battery holder, an ICM20948 IMU fill-light board, and an acrylic mounting plate with a tripod adapter.

Technical overview

  • Compatible with Raspberry Pi Compute Module CM3 / CM3 Lite / CM3+ / CM3+ Lite.
  • Three camera ports: CAM0 is enabled by default; set GPIO38 low to enable CAM1, or high to enable CAM3.
  • Onboard DSI port for directly connecting a DSI display.
  • Onboard USB connector for flashing the system image or for use as a regular USB port.
  • 36-pin GPIO connector with an adapter board to extend the UART port and the standard 40-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO.
  • 24-pin HDMI extended connector with an adapter board for connecting an HDMI display.
  • 10-pin GPIO/I2C extended connector for connecting the included ICM20948 IMU fill light board.
  • Integrates a DS1307 RTC chip along with a CR1220 battery holder.
  • Ships with an acrylic mounting plate and a tripod adapter, making it easy to use with a general tripod.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo raspivid -t 0 -cs 0
sudo raspivid -t 0 -cs 1
./CAM3_CAM1_Switch.sh 1
sudo make
sudo ./10Dof-D
sudo hwclock -r
sudo hwclock -s
sudo python KEY_LED.py

Notes and version constraints

  • The eMMC writing procedure requires Windows 10, a 5 V power adapter connected to the PWR interface, and the USB BOOT ENABLE switch set to EN. If issues occur, try changing the USB cable, port, or PC.
  • When writing an image to the CM3's eMMC, choose Raspbian Lite because its storage is only 4 GB; the GUI can be installed separately.
  • To use the CAM3 interface, set GPIO38 high; the order of recognized cameras may differ from the silk-screen printing.
  • Configuring the original Raspbian image for two cameras requires modifying and compiling a DTS file and copying dt-blob.bin into /boot.
  • Testing the ICM20948 requires downloading and compiling the demo code, and enabling the I2C interface via raspi-config.
  • Testing the RTC requires modifying /etc/rc.local, rebooting, and possibly setting the location and time zone.
  • Controlling the LEDs via the user key means the white fill light should be covered with paper during testing because it is very bright.
