Technical overview

  • Supports LTE Cat-1 with up to 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Also provides 3G (HSPA+) and 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) plus GNSS positioning (GPS/BeiDou/GLONASS/GALILEO/QZSS).
  • Features a 40-pin GPIO expansion header for connecting host boards such as Arduino or Jetson Nano.
  • Onboard CP2102 USB-to-UART converter enables serial debugging and AT command testing.
  • SIM card slot supports 1.8 V and 3 V SIM cards; optional TF card slot for storing files and SMS data.
  • Connections include USB, UART, audio out (for calls), LTE main and diversity antenna connectors, and a GNSS antenna connector.
  • Operating voltage is selectable via jumper between 3.3 V and 5 V; default with Raspberry Pi is 3.3 V.
  • Newer versions add a PWRKEY button, flight-mode jumper, and forced firmware flash pads.
  • LED indicators show network status; the NET LED blinks once per second during normal operation.
  • Ships with online resources and sample demos for Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Arduino, and STM32.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

AT+CGPSNMEAPORTCFG=3
AT+CGPSNMEA=197119
AT+CGPSINFOCFG=10,31
AT+CGPSAUTO=1
AT+CRESET

Notes and version constraints

  • The SIM7600x series does not support MMS.
  • The reset pin was not broken out because it only resets a subset of functions (equivalent to AT+CRESET).
  • Forced firmware flashing requires shorting two solder pads – use only when normal flashing fails.
  • Changing the IO level from 3.3 V to 5 V requires soldering the corresponding pads; not recommended for non-professionals.
  • Flight mode is disabled by default on newer versions; enable it by setting the jumper between Flight and D4.
  • Automatic power-on means the device cannot be manually powered off; reduce power consumption by turning off RF or entering flight mode.
  • If the GPS NMEA port outputs no data, restart the module after sending the listed AT commands.
