Technical overview
- Core chip: TSL25911FN, combines a wideband photodiode pair (visible + infrared) on a single CMOS IC.
- Two integrated ADCs convert photodiode current into digital values; illuminance in lux is derived using an empirical formula.
- I2C device address: 0x29 (7-bit); shifted, the 8-bit equivalent is 0x52.
- Operating voltage: 3.3 V or 5 V, thanks to an onboard voltage translator.
- Sensitivity up to 188 µLux, dynamic range up to 600 M:1.
- Infrared-noise environments can be measured precisely thanks to the infrared-responding photodiode.
- The INT pin provides a programmable interrupt output with upper and lower thresholds.
- Dimensions: 27 mm × 20 mm, mounting hole 2.0 mm.

Notes and version constraints
- The exact register addresses and the precise empirical formula for lux calculation are not provided in the text; they must be taken from the TSL25911 datasheet.
- The example projects reference external downloads (WiringPi, BCM2835, GitHub). The availability of these resources may change over time.
- If GPIO malfunctions occur after using BCM2835/Python, restart the Raspberry Pi, as direct register access can cause conflicts.
- Serial output for STM32 requires the correct COM port selection and a baud rate of 115200; otherwise data will be missing or garbled.
- If the output is zero or initialization fails, the pin wiring must be checked.
