Summary
The Waveshare RS232/485 TO ETH converts serial RS232 and RS485 signals into Ethernet TCP/IP traffic. Configuration is done through a web interface; the default IP is 192.168.0.7 and the default port is 1111. The device supports transparent forwarding as well as Modbus RTU/TCP conversion and allows up to eight simultaneous TCP client connections.

Technical overview
- Serial interfaces: RS232 (TXD/RXD) and RS485 (A/B) are connected in parallel and can be used simultaneously with Ethernet.
- Network connection: An RJ45 Ethernet port connects the device to a switch, router, or directly to a PC via a single network cable.
- Default network parameters: Factory IP 192.168.0.7, default subnet mask, TCP port 1111.
- Web configuration: Access the device IP in a browser; default login is admin/admin (factory value).
- TCP mode: The device can be configured as a TCP server (up to 8 clients) or as a TCP client; set the remote party IP and port accordingly.
- AT command mode: Sending “++++” without preceding data activates the mode; confirmation is sent back as 'a', followed by “+OK”. To exit, send “AT+ENTM”.
- Modbus conversion: Supports bidirectional conversion between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU; the serial baud rate must match the connected unit (commonly 9600 or 115200).
- Termination: A jumper enables a 120 Ω termination resistor for the RS485 line; correct wiring is T+ → A, T- → B.
- Troubleshooting: If no data is received, check the RX indicator, compare serial parameters, and restart the device if needed; for network issues verify IP/ping and firewall settings.

AT+ENTM
Notes and version constraints
- The exact subnet mask and gateway depend on the local network plan and must be adjusted manually.
- Modbus conversion requires additional gateway hardware or software; correct configuration requires protocol knowledge.
- If the web interface is unreachable, IP addresses must be in the same subnet but with different node addresses (e.g., device 192.168.0.7, PC 192.168.0.8).
- Firewall settings on the host may block TCP connections; SSCOM or debugging software must be added to firewall exceptions.
- The exact AT commands other than “AT+ENTM” are not fully listed in the source; further commands require consulting the manufacturer.
- Restart after network failures can be automated but requires custom monitoring logic; the source only mentions a manual restart as an immediate measure.
