Technical overview

  • The board is compatible with the CM3, CM3L, CM3+, and CM3+L compute modules, and supports Raspberry Pi HATs via a GPIO header as well as Arduino shields via an Arduino header.
  • Integrated peripherals include a USB hub, a USB-to-UART interface (CP2102) for serial debugging, a 10-bit ADC (TLC1543, 38 kSps, 11 channels), and a 16-bit DAC (DAC8552, 2 channels).
  • System installation uses an SD card slot for the Lite variants (CM3L/CM3+L) or a USB slave port for eMMC programming of the standard variants (CM3/CM3+).
  • Display options include DSI and HDMI connectors; two CSI ports (CAM0/CAM1) are provided for cameras.
  • Demo codes cover PWM/buzzer, DAC, DS18B20, RTC (DS3231), IR reception, buttons, LEDs, ADC, and UART communication.
  • Jumpers allow configuration of I/O voltage levels, USB hub enable, ADC/DAC power supply, and peripheral function mapping such as UART, buttons, LEDs, 1-Wire, IR, and buzzer.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install raspberrypi-ui-mods
cd /home/pi/CM3/Buzzer_PWM/python/ && sudo ./buzzer.py
cd /home/pi/CM3/DAC8532 && sudo ./dac8532
sudo dtc -I dts -O dtb -o /boot/dt-blob.bin dt-blob-disp1-cam2.dts
sudo raspivid -t 0 -cs 0
sudo raspivid -t 0 -cs 1
cd /home/pi/CM3/UART/wiringPi/ && sudo ./uart
cd /home/pi/CM3/UART/python/ && sudo ./usart.py

Notes and version constraints

  • The source contains no information on prices, stock availability, certifications, or warranty terms; such details were therefore not included.
  • eMMC programming via USB slave requires the eMMC version of the module (identifiable by an additional IC on the back side); if it does not respond, check drivers, cable, USB port, and power supply.
  • When using the official Raspbian image, display files (DTS) must be manually converted and placed in the /boot directory; this step is unnecessary with the pre-configured image.
  • The exact camera parameter labels (-cs 0/-cs 1) may differ from the silkscreen printing on the board; verify the correct mapping against your specific board.
  • Some steps are version-sensitive (e.g., Win7/Linux vs. Win10 for eMMC programming) and may require manual confirmation by a technician.
