Technical overview
- The kit consists of the AlphaBot2-Base chassis and the AlphaBot2-Ar adapter board. Assembly is snap-together without soldering or wiring.
- The chassis includes a TB6612FNG motor driver, two N20 DC motors with 1:30 gear reduction (6 V/600 RPM), rubber wheels (42 mm diameter, 19 mm width), and a battery holder for 14500 cells.
- The adapter board provides an Arduino socket, an Xbee connector for Bluetooth modules, an IR receiver, a PC8574 I/O expander, a TLC1543 10-bit ADC, a 0.96-inch SSD1306 OLED (128x64), and a joystick.
- If wheel direction is wrong, adjust pin settings AIN1/AIN2 (left wheel) and BIN1/BIN2 (right wheel).
- Infrared remote uses numeric keys: “2” forward, “8” backward, “4” left, “6” right, “5” stop; “+”/“-” adjust speed, “EQ” resets it.
- Ultrasonic ranging program requires the serial monitor baud rate set to 115200.
- Infrared line tracking requires calibration: hold the robot on a black line, swing it side-to-side so max/min thresholds are detected.
- OLED example programs demonstrate character display and basic drawing; the corresponding libraries must be installed in the Arduino IDE folder and the IDE restarted.
Notes and version constraints
- Infrared remote key encoding may vary by model; adjust the program as needed.
- Ultrasonic distance readings can be inaccurate when obstacles are not directly in front but at an angle.
- Line-tracking calibration directly affects tracking performance; recalibrate if behavior is incorrect.
- There is no smart charging system; the battery is fully charged when the charge LED turns off.
- Bluetooth control requires removing the module before flashing the program, then reinserting it.
