Summary

The EM060K-GL is an LTE-A global multi-band HAT for Raspberry Pi, equipped with an M.2 B KEY slot and a pre-installed EM060K-GL module. It provides multi-constellation GNSS positioning (GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo), a USB 3.1 port, and various switches/connectors for flexible power supply.

Technical overview

  • Integrated EM060K-GL module in an M.2 B KEY slot; compatible modules include Quectel and Simcom series (e.g., RM500U-CN, RM500Q-GL, SIM8262E-M2).
  • GNSS supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou (Compass), and Galileo; NMEA data can be read via ttyUSB1.
  • LTE-FDD bands: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B14, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28, B29*, B30, B32*, B66, B71. *B29/B32 are receive-only auxiliary component carriers in 2×CA.
  • Data rates: up to 300 Mbps downlink / 50 Mbps uplink (FDD); 226/28 Mbps (TDD); DC-HSPA+ 42/5.76 Mbps; WCDMA 384 Kbps both directions.
  • USB 3.1 port (backward compatible with USB 2.0) for connecting to a PC, Raspberry Pi, or Jetson Nano; MBIM/ECM/RNDIS/NCM dial-up modes selectable via AT+QCFG="usbnet",<n>.
  • DIP switches enable/disable PWR and RST control pins for external IO control; a separate USB-C input allows an external 5 V/3 A supply for higher loads.
  • Four SMA-to-IPEX antenna connectors are present; all four antennas must be connected for stable network registration.
  • Operating temperature -30 °C to +70 °C; extended temperature -40 °C to +85 °C; module dimensions 42.0 × 30.0 × 2.3 mm.

Notes and version constraints

  • The source contains mixed references to related modules (RM500U-CN, RM500Q-GL, FM650, SIM8262E-M2) – please verify actual compatibility of the installed module before deployment.
  • Some AT commands (e.g., AT+QENG, AT+QCFG) are module-specific; not all commands are guaranteed to work on every compatible module.
  • In case of power loss or unstable network after reboot, an external 5 V/3 A supply via the USB-C input may be required.
  • Using other M.2 B KEY modules requires manual pin-compatibility checks; the source recommends practical testing.
  • Version-sensitive steps (Windows driver installation, NDIS/MBIM selection) may vary by OS version – human confirmation recommended.
