Summary

The RP2040-ETH is a compact development board combining the official Raspberry Pi RP2040 dual-core processor with a CH9120 Ethernet module. It provides 14 multi-function GPIO pins, a USB-C connector, and integrated peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, and PWM channels. Operating mode, IP address, gateway, subnet mask, ports, and baud rate can be configured via serial commands or a Windows network tool.

Technical overview

Uses the official RP2040 chip with two Arm Cortex-M0+ cores running up to 133 MHz
Provides 264 KB of on-board SRAM and 4 MB of on-board Flash memory
Integrated CH9120 module with built-in TCP/IP protocol stack for network communication
14 multi-function GPIO pins along the castellated PCB edges for direct soldering onto carrier boards
Additional peripherals: 1× SPI (SPI0), 2× I2C, 2× UART, 13 controllable PWM channels, built-in temperature sensor, and 8 programmable PIO state machines
USB-C connector; drag-and-drop programming via mass storage mode (hold BOOT+RESET)
Serial interface between CH9120 and RP2040: RXD→GP21, TXD→GP20, TCPCS→GP17, CFG0→GP18, RSTI→GP19
Configurable parameters via serial commands or host tool: CH9120 operating mode (TCP_SERVER=0, TCP_CLIENT=1, UDP_SERVER=2, UDP_CLIENT=3), local IP, gateway, subnet mask, target IP, port numbers, and serial baud rate (default 9600, changeable to maximum)
Compilable C/C++ examples using the Pico SDK with CMake; output is a .uf2 file copied into mass storage
MicroPython firmware (rp2-pico-20230209-unstable-v1.19.1.uf2) is loaded via drag-and-drop; Thonny IDE used to run Python demos
