Summary

The device is an industrial serial server that enables bidirectional transparent data transmission between an isolated RS232 port and an RJ45 Ethernet port. It supports TCP server, TCP client, UDP, and UDP multicast, as well as Modbus gateway, MQTT gateway, and HTTP features for use in industrial environments.

Technical overview

  • Two hardware variants: standard Ethernet port or PoE Ethernet port (IEEE 802.3af).
  • Serial parameters: baud rates from 1200 to 115200 bps, 5–9 data bits, parity none/even/odd/mark/space, no flow control.
  • Power input via screw terminals at DC 6–36 V; the PoE variant can also be powered through the network port.
  • Housing dimensions: 87 × 36 × 59 mm, suitable for DIN-rail mounting on 3.5–3.7 mm rails.
  • Operating temperature range: −40 °C to +85 °C, relative humidity 5–95 %.
  • Supported network protocols: ETHERNET, IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP, ARP, ICMP, DHCP, DNS.
  • As a TCP server, up to 30 simultaneous connections are possible; as a TCP client, up to 7 destination IPs can be configured.
  • Web-based configuration via browser; dynamic IP assignment through DHCP and DNS name resolution are supported.
  • Advanced features include Modbus RTU-to-TCP conversion, MQTT gateway, JSON/Modbus RTU and DLT645 support, NTP time synchronization, and optional password authentication for TCP connections.

Notes and version constraints

  • The source gives conflicting lower baud-rate limits (300 bps in the table vs. 1200 bps in the feature text); verify the valid limit on the actual device before use.
  • The example IP address 192.168.1.200 and port 4196 refer to the test setup and are not necessarily the factory defaults; actual factory parameters must be confirmed on the device.
  • Exact power consumption is only partially stated in the source; specific values require manufacturer confirmation.
  • If the web configuration page is unreachable, a specific firmware file (2043_waveshare_web_zx.zip) must be re-downloaded; the correct file version must match the specific device build.
  • Remote search and cloud management require a DLL development library; availability of this library and its OS compatibility should be verified before deployment.
