Technical overview

  • Base modules: SIM8202G-M2 (Qualcomm X55, 3GPP R15) and SIM8262E-M2 (Qualcomm X62, 3GPP R16)
  • Supports 5G NSA and SA as well as multi-mode/multi-band operation
  • GNSS: GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS (availability depends on the module)
  • USB 3.1 port (backward compatible with USB 2.0) for PC, Raspberry Pi, or Jetson Nano
  • M.2 B-key socket compatible with e.g. SIM8202X-M2, SIM8200EA-M2, SIM8262X-M2, RM500U-CN, RM500Q-GL/AE
  • Two SIM slots; dual-card single-standby, switchable via AT command (module must support this)
  • Onboard audio chip NAU8810X for voice functions in the SIM82XX series; not supported by RM50XX/EM06XX
  • Cooling fan cools both the Raspberry Pi and the 5G module
  • Power supply via USB-C (5 V / 3 A) or via the host
  • Control switches: DIP switches enable D5 (shutdown) or D4 (reset) on the Raspberry Pi

Commands and examples – verify before use:

AT$QCRMCALL=1,1

Notes and version constraints

  • The exact antenna label for GNSS varies by model (e.g., ANT5 for SIM8200EA-M2, ANT2 for SIM8202G-M2); verify the correct mapping before setup.
  • Dual-SIM switching requires module support; not all modules offer this feature.
  • Compatibility with other M.2 modules must be verified through actual testing; only modules with USB function on the M.2 B-key are supported.
  • Firmware updates run via the USB interface; the exact procedure is module-dependent.
