Summary

The Waveshare JETSON-XAVIER-NX-DEV-KIT is built around the Jetson Xavier NX core board. It offers a similar form factor and interfaces as the official developer kit, with a more easily upgradable core board. The kit targets AI projects such as image classification, object detection, segmentation, and speech processing.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo apt install ./sdkmanager_[version]-[build#]_amd64.deb
ls /dev/nvme*
sudo mkfs.ext4 /dev/nvme0n1
sudo vi /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf
sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1 /mnt
sudo cp -ax / /mnt
sudo umount /mnt/
sudo reboot
df -h
sudo i2cdetect
sudo i2cget -y 0 0x68 0x90

Notes and version constraints

  • System programming requires an Ubuntu 18.04 host (VM also works) with about 100 GB of free space, and a registered NVIDIA Developer account for the SDK Manager.
  • Before programming, enable recovery mode: short-circuit FC REC and GND at the bottom edge of the core board, connect DC power, then connect via a data cable (Micro USB) to the host.
  • When booting from SSD, edit extlinux.conf: replace root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 with root=/dev/nvme0n1 and change LABEL primary to LABEL NX.
  • After copying the system to the SSD, do not remove it; run 'sudo umount /mnt/' first, then reboot.
  • Maximum supported voltage is 21 V.
  • The CAN signal next to the carrier board only works after soldering pin headers.
  • If jtop detects the board as UNKNOWN, it is because the SSD lacks an official board EPPROM ID; this does not affect usage.
