Summary
The Waveshare SC15 is a high-torque, programmable serial bus servo (up to 17 kg·cm at 8.4 V). It supports a 210° range in servo mode and continuous rotation in motor mode. Up to 253 units can be controlled simultaneously over the serial bus.

Technical overview
- Input voltage: 4.8–8.4 V; idle current ~200 mA, stall current ~1700 mA.
- Angle range: 210° in servo mode / 360° continuous in motor mode.
- Position sensor resolution: 210°/1024 steps.
- Bus baud rate: 1 Mbps; ID range 0–253.
- Dimensions: 40.5 × 40 × 20 mm.
- Two TTL bus ports per servo allow daisy-chaining multiple units.
- Feedback values: position, load, speed, input voltage.
- Two operating modes switchable via software: servo mode (absolute angle) and motor mode (stepper, ±7 revolutions, not retained after power loss).
Notes and version constraints
- Service life is only given as “over 100,000 cycles” from reliability tests; no warranty or certification is stated in the source.
- When changing a servo ID, the EPROM area must be unlocked first, otherwise changes are lost after reboot.
- When using many servos on the same driver board, the power supply must be sized accordingly; otherwise voltage drops may occur.
- The default scan limit of the driver is ID 0–20; higher IDs require modifying the MAX_ID variable in the program and re-uploading.
- The “17 kg·cm torque” figure applies specifically at 8.4 V; available torque decreases at lower voltages accordingly.
