Technical overview
- Two hardware variants: RS485 TO ETH (B) uses a standard Ethernet port with 9–24 V power via terminal block; RS485 TO POE ETH (B) adds PoE, 6–36 V supply, and electrical isolation.
- Connections: RS485 interface (A/B), RJ45 Ethernet port, power terminals. Serial link is made through a USB-to-RS485 adapter or direct device connection.
- LED indicators: PWR shows power status. LINK glows green when a cable is connected and blue when a TCP/UDP session is established. ACT lights green for network-to-serial transmission and blue for serial-to-network return data.
- Software features: TCP server (up to 30 connections), TCP client (up to 7 destination IPs), UDP multicast, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, Modbus gateway (RTU to TCP), MQTT gateway, JSON formatting, and NTP time sync.
- Configuration is done via web browser or VirCom software. Virtual COM ports are created with the driver; if virtual ports are not needed, the free configuration utility suffices.
- Test setup: connect a PC with a USB-to-RS485 adapter to the RS485 device, run a network cable between the server and PC/switch. Use VirCom to discover and configure the device on the same switch segment.
- TCP test: configure one SSCOM window as a TCP client targeting IP 192.168.1.200 port 4196. Data is forwarded transparently between the RS485 device and the PC.
- The Modbus gateway supports storage mode (automatic collection and storage) and non-storage mode. Multi-host behavior also allows several computers to query the same serial device simultaneously.
- Operating conditions: temperature range -40 °C to 85 °C, humidity 5 % to 95 % relative humidity.
- Suitable for industrial data acquisition, IoT gateway use cases, remote monitoring of automation PLCs, and networking access-control systems.

Notes and version constraints
- The source contains no explicit command-line interface commands; the listed “commands” refer only to software dialogs from the quick-test section.
- The specific IP value (192.168.1.200) is an example from the test section; actual IP depends on network configuration and must be verified on site.
- PoE power is only available on the RS485 TO POE ETH (B) variant; the base variant requires an external 9–24 V power source.
- Compatibility with gigabit switches is limited: the device supports 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps Ethernet; some gigabit switches may be incompatible.
- All feature claims come from untrusted supplier material; critical integration steps (e.g., Modbus gateway setup, MQTT bridge) should be confirmed by a specialist.
