Technical overview

  • The expansion board supports three 18650 batteries (not included) and provides up to 12.6V output for stronger motor power.
  • Integrated lithium battery protection circuit (S-8254AA + AO4407A) protects against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, and short-circuit.
  • APW8286 voltage regulator supplies a stable 5V to the Jetson Nano; the SY8286 regulator drives the steering gear at up to 5A.
  • The TB6612FNG dual H-bridge motor driver controls the left and right motors.
  • A 0.91-inch OLED display (128×32) shows IP address, memory, power, etc., in real time.
  • An INA219 acquisition chip enables real-time monitoring of battery voltage and charging current.
  • The robot features a four-degree-of-freedom mechanical arm controlled via a 3D coordinate system and operated by a wireless gamepad.
  • Software compatible with the NVIDIA JetBot project; supports intelligent obstacle avoidance, autonomous line patrol, motion detection, and color recognition tracking.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo nmcli device wifi connect <SSID> password <PASSWORD>
git clone https://github.com/waveshare/JETANK.git
cd JETANK
chmod +x install.py
chmod +x config.py
./install.sh
./config.sh

Notes and version constraints

  • Batteries are not included; three 18650 cells are required (recommended: Sanyo or Panasonic).
  • The 12V power adapter must NOT be connected directly to the Jetson Nano developer board – it is only for charging the batteries.
  • On first installation or after disassembly, connect the supplied power supply for a few seconds to activate the protection circuit before normal use.
  • Default username and password for the JetBot image are both 'jetbot'.
  • To access via web browser, the PC must be on the same network as the JETANK.
  • If the TF card is not recognized on Windows: use Disk Management, delete the volume, reformat, then reflash the new image.
