- Battery type: Supports 600mAh 3.7V Li-Po battery (not included in package).
- Charging voltage: 5V charging input via the Pico USB connection.
- Control bus: I2C for real-time monitoring of battery voltage, current, power, and remaining capacity.
- Protection circuits: Multi-protection against overcharge/discharge, overcurrent, short circuit, and reverse polarity.
- Indicators: Onboard recharging and power LEDs for quick battery status checks.
- Dimensions: 60 × 21 mm; stackable design via male pin header.
- Resources: Online demos in C/C++ and MicroPython available; schematic documentation and ETA6003 datasheet as reference.
Commands and examples – verify before use:
wget -P ~/pico https://files.waveshare.com/upload/5/5a/Pico-UPS-A.zip
cd ~/pico && unzip Pico-UPS-A.zip
cd ~/pico/Pico-UPS-A/c/build/
cmake -DPICO_BOARD=pico -DPICO_PLATFORM=rp2040 ..
make
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt && sudo cp Pico_UPS.uf2 /mnt && sudo sync && sudo umount /mnt && sleep 2 && sudo minicom -b 115200 -o -D /dev/ttyACM0
Notes and version constraints
- The demo files refer to 'Pico-UPS-A' even though the product is Pico-UPS-B – please verify before use whether the demos also work for the B module.
- Li-ion/Li-po batteries can cause fire, personal injury, or property damage if mishandled. Never connect in reverse polarity, only use verified chargers.
- Batteries have limited cycle life and degrade over time; replacement required after reaching max cycles or aging.
- Store lithium batteries carefully: keep away from flammable/explosive items and children, avoid improper storage.
- Windows usage requires correct serial configuration (baud rate 115200, DTR enabled); exact COM port assignment must be confirmed manually.
