Commands and examples – verify before use:
wget -P ~/pico https://files.waveshare.com/upload/5/5a/Pico-UPS-A.zip
cd ~/pico && unzip Pico-UPS-A.zip
cd ~/pico/Pico-UPS-A/c/build/ && cmake -DPICO_BOARD=pico -DPICO_PLATFORM=rp2040 .. && make
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt && sudo cp Pico_UPS.uf2 /mnt && sudo sync && sudo umount /mnt && sleep 2 && sudo minicom -b 115200 -o -D /dev/ttyACM0
Notes and version constraints
- Li-ion and Li-po batteries are unstable and can cause fire, personal injury, or property damage if not properly charged or used
- Do not reverse-connect polarities when charging or discharging; do not use inferior chargers
- Do not mix old and new batteries or different brands
- Lithium batteries have limited cycle life; replace when max cycles reached or after two years of operation
- Keep batteries away from inflammables, explosives, and children
- The listed commands assume a working Raspberry Pi environment; exact COM port mapping varies by computer
- Flashing Pico2 firmware may cause the device to become unrecognized – only use the firmware provided in the package
