Summary

Technical overview

  • Each of the two cameras delivers a 3280 × 2464 pixel image (8 MP) using a 1/4-inch CMOS chip.
  • The lenses have a 2.6 mm focal length with an 83° diagonal, 73° horizontal and 50° vertical field of view. Distortion is under 1 %.
  • The baseline distance between the two lenses is 60 mm, which forms the basis for depth estimation.
  • An integrated ICM20948 sensor measures acceleration, rotation rate and magnetic field strength with 16-bit resolution.
  • The module connects to the Jetson Nano's CSI interfaces using two 22-pin cables, with the metal sides facing the heatsink.
  • On Jetson Nano, both video devices can be checked with 'ls /dev/video*'; video0 and video1 should appear.
  • For image testing, use 'DISPLAY=:0.0 nvgstcapture-1.0 --sensor-id=0' or '--sensor-id=1'.
  • If the image appears too red, an ISP override file from the Waveshare download can be copied to /var/nvidia/nvcam/settings/ and installed.
  • The ICM20948 can be connected to Jetson Nano pins 3 and 5 via SDA/SCL; a make-based demo project allows reading the sensor values.
