Technical overview

  • Supports three 18650 batteries (not included), 7800 mAh capacity, up to 12.6 V output voltage.
  • Onboard S-8254AA + AO4407A Li-ion battery protection circuit with overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent and short-circuit protection.
  • Onboard APW7313 voltage regulator provides stable 5 V to the Jetson Nano.
  • Onboard TB6612FNG dual H-bridge motor driver chip drives the left and right motor axes.
  • Onboard 0.91-inch OLED display (128×32) shows IP address, memory, power supply and operating status in real time.
  • INA219 acquisition chip enables real-time monitoring of battery voltage.
  • Software setup: Write the JetRacer image (based on JetPack 4.5) to an SD card of at least 64 GB.
  • Startup: Insert the SD card into the slot under the Jetson Nano, power on the unit and connect to a PC via micro USB.
  • Wi-Fi connection: In the Jupyter Lab terminal run “sudo nmcli device wifi list”, then “sudo nmcli device wifi connect <ssid_name> password <password>”, then check the Wlan0 IP with “ifconfig”.
  • Example notebooks located under /jetracer/notebooks/: basic_motion.ipynb, teleoperation.ipynb, interactive-regression.ipynb, road_following.ipynb.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo nmcli device wifi list
sudo nmcli device wifi connect <ssid_name> password <password>
ifconfig
cd Jetracer && sudo git checkout master && sudo python3 setup.py install && sudo reboot
sudo nvpmodel -m1
sudo nvpmodel -q
sudo systemctl restart nvargus-daemon

Notes and version constraints

  • Exact compatibility with different Jetson Nano Dev Kit revisions (e.g., B01 vs. other revisions) must be verified before purchase; the source only mentions the generic “Jetson Nano Developer Kit”.
  • The note that “the non-pro version should switch the jetracer repository to master at Step 5” suggests differences between Pro and non-Pro variants; which variant is actually supplied is not clear from the source.
  • The gamepad receiver must be connected to the computer, not the Jetson Nano; the correct INDEX value depends on the specific gamepad model and should be verified on html5gamepad.com.
  • Loading torch-1.2.0a0+8554416-cp36-cp36m-linux_aarch64.whl assumes Python 3.6 and specific dependencies; if the environment differs, errors may occur.
  • After reformatting a TF card on Windows, the card must be formatted again before a new image can be written; otherwise recognition may fail.
