Technical overview
- Uses the BCM2711B0 (ARM Cortex-A72) as a 64-bit quad-core CPU at 1.5 GHz.
- Available in three RAM variants: PI4B-1GB, PI4B-2GB and PI4B-4GB.
- Interfaces include Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 x 2, USB 2.0 x 2, two micro-HDMI ports (supporting 4Kp60), a MicroSD slot, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a 40-pin GPIO header, a CSI camera connector and a DSI display connector.
- Wireless: 802.11ac dual-band NIC (2.4/5 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0/BLE.
- Power is supplied via USB Type-C at a minimum of 5 V / 3 A.
- PoE is possible through a PoE header when a compatible PoE HAT is used.
- Setup flow: format an SD card, flash the OS image, insert the card, connect the 5 V/3 A adapter; the power LED stays red and the ACT LED blinks green.
- Dual-screen touch mapping uses xinput map-to-output <touch ID> <HDMI ID>; persist it in /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart.
Commands and examples – verify before use:
xrandr
xinput
xinput map-to-output <touch ID> <HDMI-ID>
sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
Notes and version constraints
- The source does not specify software versions or driver requirements; verify the latest official OS version before use.
- SD-card formatting depends on the tool used (the source mentions SDFormatter.exe); alternatives exist.
- PoE requires an additional HAT; without it the PoE header remains unused.
- For dual displays, the correct touch ID must be identified manually; if unclear which belongs to the main screen, test both IDs.
- The autostart entry must remain effective after each reboot; otherwise the command line has to be re-run.
