Notes and version constraints

  • The glass panel and FPC connector are fragile; when developing, reinforce the FPC with tape
  • All cables must be connected before powering on – the device does not support hot-plugging
  • Two versions exist: raw panel (requires separate IT8951 driver board) and HAT version (with driver board); the HAT version is recommended for first-time users
  • Refresh time and power figures are measured values that may vary with environment
  • In low-temperature environments, color cast may occur; allow 6 hours at 25 °C before refreshing
  • Avoid direct sunlight; take UV protection measures because charged particles can dry out under strong light (irreversible)
  • Update the display at least every 24 hours to avoid burn-in
  • After prolonged high-voltage states, set the screen to sleep mode or power off after each refresh to prevent burn-out
  • E-LINK-TCON-DEMO source code requires signing an NDA with the Waveshare team and is currently unavailable to individual users
