Summary

The 2.8-inch IPS LCD with a resistive touch panel provides 320 × 240 pixels and communicates via a 4-wire SPI bus. The display driver defaults to ST7789; HX8347D is the alternative. The XPT2046 touch controller supports 12-bit ADC at 125 kHz sampling and also provides temperature and battery-voltage measurements.

Technical overview

  • Display resolution: 320 × 240 pixels, IPS panel, 65K colors (RGB).
  • Interface: 4-wire SPI with CPHA=0, CPOL=0; data transmitted MSB-first.
  • Default driver ST7789; switch to HX8347D by editing the defines on lines 80/81 of LCD_Driver.h if the display does not render.
  • Touch controller XPT2046: 12-bit ADC at 125 kHz, I/O range 1.5–5.25 V, on-chip temperature sensor, battery monitoring 0–5 V.
  • Dimensions: overall 79.9 mm × 50.8 mm, active display area 57.6 mm × 43.2 mm.
  • Power: 5 V for the panel, 3.3 V logic level; LED backlight with programmable control via LCD_BL.
  • Pins: 5V, GND, MISO, MOSI, SCLK, LCD_CS, LCD_DC, LCD_RST, LCD_BL, TP_CS, TP_IRQ.
  • Compatible with OpenX05R-C, OpenM128, Open103C, and PIC-based boards (Open16F877A / Open18F4520); pin mappings differ per board.
  • Touch calibration is performed with a stylus after launching the demo; drawing becomes possible afterwards.
