Summary

The RPi Camera (G) is a Raspberry Pi camera module with an OV5647 sensor, 5 MP resolution and a fisheye lens for a wide field of view. It connects via the CSI port and is controlled through rpicam-, libcamera- or raspicam commands.

Technical overview

Sensor: OV5647, 5 megapixels
Fisheye lens with HFOV 126° and VFOV 91°
Connects via the CSI port; on Pi 5 two CSI ports are available
Supported drivers: libcamera/Raspicam
rpicam-hello starts a preview for about 5 seconds
rpicam-jpeg captures a full-resolution JPEG
White balance can be adjusted manually via awb_gains
For IMX290 on Pi 5, an additional JSON tuning file must be copied

Notes and version constraints

The source contains placeholders {{{...}}} and incomplete sections; some command parameters are not fully specified.
Compatibility with specific Raspberry Pi models should be verified before purchase.
The OS version (Bullseye vs. Bookworm) determines which app family to use.
Tuning file paths differ by Pi model (vc4 vs. pisp).
Manual white balance requires adjustment to the shooting environment.
