Summary
The BME68X environmental sensor measures temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and gas resistance via I2C or SPI. It is supported on Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32 and Pico; IAQ calculation requires the non-open-source Bosch BSEC software library.

Technical overview
- Four-in-one sensing: temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure and VOC gas resistance in one module.
- Communication via I2C (default) or SPI; I2C address configurable via ADDR pad (0x77 default, 0x76 when grounded).
- Onboard voltage translator supports 3.3 V and 5 V supply.
- BME680 and BME688 include a mini MOX sensor whose resistance changes with VOC concentration.
- An IAQ value (0–500) is only produced through the official, non-open-source BSEC library; use is subject to Bosch licensing restrictions.
- Module dimensions: 27 mm × 20 mm.
- Platforms covered in the wiki: Raspberry Pi (C/Python), Raspberry Pi Pico, Arduino, ESP32.
- Stated measurement ranges: temperature −40 to 85 °C, humidity 0–100 % r.H., pressure 300–1100 hPa.

sudo make clean
sudo make
sudo ./bme68x
sudo pip3 install bme680
sudo python3 read-all.py
Notes and version constraints
- The BSEC library is proprietary and license-restricted; review licensing terms before integration.
- I2C address depends on the ADDR pad state; if malfunction occurs, check connection, communication mode and address.
- Demo files must be downloaded and extracted; paths may vary by version.
- Arduino SPI demo uses D10/D11/D12/D13; other boards require adjusted pin assignments.
- No warranty or certification information present in the source; no safety notes available.
