Summary

The RGB-Matrix-P2.5-64x32 is a full-color LED matrix display with 64×32 pixels and a 2.5 mm pitch. It contains 2048 individual RGB LEDs (1R1G1B) and is driven via HUB75 headers. The display is a bare board without integrated controller electronics and requires an external controller such as Raspberry Pi, Pico, ESP32 or Arduino.

Technical overview

  • Resolution: 64 columns × 32 rows = 2048 RGB LEDs in 1R1G1B format
  • Pixel pitch: 2.5 mm; board dimensions approx. 160 × 80 mm
  • Interface: two HUB75 headers (input and output), supports daisy-chaining multiple panels
  • Power supply: 5 V / max. 2.5 A via VH4 power connector; power consumption ≤ 12 W
  • Driving scheme: synchronous 1/16 row scanning using CLK, LAT/STB, OE and address lines A–E
  • Compatible controllers: Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi Pico (CircuitPython), ESP32, Arduino Mega, STM32F103RB
  • Open-source demo projects are available for all listed platforms; demo commands use parameters such as --led-cols=64 --led-rows=32
  • Brightness is adjustable; viewing angle ≥ 140°
  • Typical applications: desktop displays, wall mounting, signage, environmental monitoring screens

sudo ./demo -D0 --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=32
sudo ./c-example -D0 --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=32

sudo ./text-example -f ../fonts/8x13.bdf --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64
sudo ./pixel-mover --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=32
sudo ./clock -f ../fonts/7x13.bdf --led-cols=64 --led-rows=32 -d "%A" -d "%H:%M:%S" --led-no-hardware-pulse

Notes and version constraints

  • The power supply must be exactly 5 V; other voltages can damage the display.
  • Different PCB batches may have minor differences in silkscreen and layout; software remains compatible, but the actual delivery takes precedence.
  • When connecting multiple panels to one Raspberry Pi, enable and data pins must be wired accordingly depending on panel count; for a single panel only the pins marked with 😄 are needed.
  • Demo commands assume the rpi-rgb-led-matrix open-source project is installed; version differences in the project may cause incompatibilities.
  • Using isolcpus=3 in /boot/cmdline.txt is recommended to improve display refresh rate; this requires a reboot and should be verified before use.
  • For the Pico variant, the CircuitPython firmware must first be flashed via BOOTSEL + USB; without this step no demo will run.
  • When using the STM32, an external 5 V / 4 A power supply is required, otherwise IO malfunctions may occur.
  • Supported font sizes are currently limited to 16×16, 32×32 and 64×64; larger renderings are not guaranteed.
