Summary

The SX1262-LoRa-DTU-xF is a wireless data transfer unit based on the Semtech SX1262 chip. It converts RS232, RS485 or RS422 signals into LoRa RF data in the sub-GHz band, with a range of up to 5 km and AES encryption.

Technical overview

  • Aluminum-alloy enclosure, dimensions 77.0 × 24.0 × 64.2 mm; DIN-rail mounting via an embedded 35 mm latch on the rear.
  • Interfaces: RS485 (half-duplex), RS232 (full-duplex, DB9 plug) and RS422 (full-duplex); only one interface can be active per unit; simultaneous conversion of all three is not possible.
  • RF parameters: sub-GHz bands (410–510 MHz or 850–930 MHz), max transmit power +22 dBm, receive sensitivity −148 dBm, LoRa modulation, AES encryption.
  • Power supply via DC 12 V adapter or 6-pin terminal (6–28 V, GND); overvoltage, overcurrent and reverse-polarity protection provided.
  • Operating temperature 0–85 °C; humidity range 5–95 % RH.
  • LED indicators: PWR (steady on when powered), TXD (on while transmitting), RXD (on while receiving).
  • KEY button: within the first 3 s after power-on, hold for 2 s to enter firmware-update mode (from FW 1.1); after 3 s, tap to switch among RS485/RS232/RS422; hold until RXD turns off to restore factory defaults and reboot.
  • From firmware 1.2, RS485 is the default interface, default baud rate 9600, mode 8N1.
  • Supports point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multi-level relay networking to extend wireless range.
  • RSSI output (AT+RSSI=1) appends a hexadecimal RSSI value to each transmitted packet; LBT (Listen Before Talk, AT+LBT=1) monitors channel noise before transmission and delays sending by up to 2 s if noise exceeds threshold.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

AT+RSSI=1
AT+LBT=1

Notes and version constraints

  • This device does not support LoRaWAN; it communicates only with other SX1262-LoRa-DTU-xF or USB-TO-LoRa-xF units.
  • At least two DTU units are required to form a functional radio network.
  • Do not press the KEY button within the first 3 seconds after power-on; accidental presses may trigger the update mode.
  • If packets are lost or garbled: reduce data volume and transmit frequency (recommendation: max. 240 characters/s) and consider flashing the latest firmware.
  • The exact regional frequency-band selection (410–510 MHz vs. 850–930 MHz) must be confirmed locally before deployment.
  • The stated range (up to 5 km) depends heavily on environment, antenna and setup conditions; no guarantee without a field test.
