Summary

Quick overview of the flexible RGB full-color LED matrix panel with 64x64 pixels and 3mm pitch. The panel is a bare display that must be driven by a microcontroller such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or ESP32.

Technical overview

  • Resolution: 64 x 64 = 4096 individual RGB LEDs in a 1R1G1B configuration
  • Pixel pitch: 3 mm; board size: 192 x 192 mm
  • Drive type: synchronous, 1/32 scan, HUB75E headers
  • Two HUB75 connectors: one for data input, one for output – cascading multiple panels is supported
  • Power supply: 5 V / max. 4 A via VH4 header; power consumption ≤ 20 W
  • Viewing angle ≥ 160°
  • Compatible controllers: Raspberry Pi, Arduino Mega, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico (to be purchased separately)
  • For Raspberry Pi: up to three panels can be daisy-chained; pin mapping per the wiki table

Commands and examples – verify before use:

git clone https://github.com/hzeller/rpi-rgb-led-matrix/
make -C examples-api-use
sudo ./demo -D0 --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64
sudo ./c-example -D0 --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64
sudo ./minimal-example -D0 --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64
sudo ./text-example -f ../fonts/8x13.bdf --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64
sudo ./pixel-mover --led-no-hardware-pulse --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64
sudo ./clock -f ../fonts/7x13.bdf --led-cols=64 --led-rows=64 -d "%A" -d "%H:%M:%S" --led-no-hardware-pulse

Notes and version constraints

  • Use only 5 V supply; other voltages may damage the panel
  • The panel is a bare display – no image will appear without an external controller
  • Raspberry Pi pin mappings are version-sensitive; verify the correct Pi generation before wiring
  • The commands assume the rpi-rgb-led-matrix open-source project has been installed
  • Modifying /boot/cmdline.txt (isolcpus=3) requires a reboot and should only be done after human confirmation
