Technical overview

  • Compatible with all versions of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (module not included).
  • Two RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps) plus one additional 100 Mbps Ethernet port via a USB hub chip RTL8152.
  • Three USB 2.0 ports for peripherals.
  • M.2 E-Key slot supports 2230 and 2240 form factors; according to the FAQ it is intended for Wi‑Fi cards, not NVMe or SSDs.
  • Dual HDMI outputs supporting 4K@30 fps; enabling DSI disables one of the HDMI outputs.
  • Dual MIPI CSI camera ports and a MIPI DSI display port (DISP1).
  • RTC over I²C (chip PCF85063A, address 0x51); default bus is I²C1; enable via dtparam=i2c_arm=on and dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,pcf85063a in /boot/config.txt.
  • Fan driven by PWM on GPIO18; supply voltage selectable between 5 V and 12 V via resistor selection (default 12 V).

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo nano /boot/config.txt
dtparam=i2c_arm=on
dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,pcf85063a
sudo hwclock -w
sudo hwclock -s
sudo hwclock --set --date="9/8/2021 16:45:05"
sudo hwclock -r
libcamera-hello --list-cameras
libcamera-hello -t 0
libcamera-jpeg -o test.jpg
libcamera-vid -t 10000 -o test.h264
sudo dtc -I dts -O dtb -o /boot/dt-blob.bin dt-blob-disp0-double_cam.dts
sudo raspivid -t 0 -cs 0
sudo raspivid -t 0 -cs 1

Notes and version constraints

  • No PoE support on this board.
  • Power supply: at least 12 V / 1.5 A required during normal operation, otherwise automatic shutdown or clock throttling may occur.
  • Only USB and HDMI devices may be unplugged while powered on; disconnect all other interfaces only after powering down.
  • The Type-C port is solely a USB slave port for image flashing and cannot be used as a power input.
  • Compatibility of specific camera sensors with the new Bookworm system must be verified per sensor; the source lists supported sensors but does not cover every available model.
  • With an OpenWrt install, IP addresses and credentials depend on configuration; the listed defaults apply only to the shipped image.
  • Changes to FAN_VCC resistors or RTC I²C bus selection are hardware-level modifications requiring manual intervention on the board.
