Technical overview

  • Resolution 1280×800 at 60 Hz; 8-inch diagonal; viewing angle 178°.
  • 10-point capacitive touch with toughened glass (up to 6H hardness) and optical bonding.
  • Ports: HDMI input, USB for touch, 5V Type-C power, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 4PIN speaker header.
  • Supported systems: Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, Kali, Retropie, and Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7.
  • Input current must be at least 750 mA at 5 V; nominal 800 mA; operating temperature 0–60 °C, storage -10–70 °C.
  • Max brightness 400 cd/m², contrast 1200:1, color gamut 62% NTSC, power draw about 4 W, weight 406 g.
  • EDID values for manual setup: pixel clock 77 MHz, H/V addressable 1280/800, blanking 232/56, front porch 160/20, sync width 32/6.
  • For Raspberry Pi, the resolution must be set manually in config.txt; otherwise the display may show incorrectly.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=87
hdmi_cvt 1280 800 60 6 0 0 0
hdmi_drive=1
sudo apt-get install ddcutil -y
sudo ddcutil detect
sudo ddcutil setvcp 10 <value>

Notes and version constraints

  • The exact config.txt commands apply only when the system does not auto-detect EDID; board versions (V1/V2) differ in solder pads for PWM backlight control.
  • If USB power is insufficient, the display flickers; connect an external 5 V / 1 A adapter to the Power port.
  • Current below 750 mA can cause startup failures or permanent damage; voltage above 5.25 V can permanently damage the device.
  • Avoid long-term storage in high temperature/humidity; operating outside specified temperatures can damage the display.
  • Windows touch calibration requires tapping on screen; if the screen is blank, press Enter to switch the prompt to the touchscreen.
  • PWM backlight control requires soldering to specific pads that differ by board version – verify the correct version before soldering.
