Summary

The driver board is based on the ESP32-WROOM-32 and provides interfaces for DC motors, bus servos, lidar, IIC and other peripherals. It is powered through an XH2.54 connector at 7–13 V and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ESP-NOW.

Technical overview

  • Main controller: ESP32-WROOM-32; development via the Arduino IDE is supported.
  • Two groups of DC motor connections: one PH2.0 6P connector per group for motors with encoders, plus two PH2.0 2P connectors per group for motors without encoders.
  • Serial bus-servo interface for up to 253 ST3215 servos; output current is switch-controlled, rated at 5 A maximum for continuous operation.
  • Nine-axis IMU combination using the AK09918C three-axis compass and the QMI8658 six-axis motion sensor.
  • Voltage and current monitoring via the INA219 chip; input supply is 7–13 V through the XH2.54 power port.
  • Lidar interface with integrated UART-to-USB conversion using a CP2102 bridge.
  • IIC expansion header for connecting OLED displays or other IIC sensors.
  • SD card slot for storing logs or Wi-Fi configurations.
  • 40-pin expansion header for attaching a host computer such as a Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano; enables serial/IIC communication and host power delivery.
  • Automatic download circuit simplifies uploading demo programs without manually pressing the EN/BOOT buttons.

Notes and version constraints

  • According to the source, the MG996R and MG90S PWM servos are not supported; the recommended model is the WP90 servo.
  • The number of simultaneously usable ST3215 servos depends on their operating conditions; in the example, up to five servos can be used at 5 A provided they are not stalled simultaneously.
  • If no new COM port appears after plugging in the board, check whether entries named “CP2102” appear under unknown devices; if so, install the corresponding serial-port driver; otherwise contact the manufacturer.
  • The exact number of supported servos and the allowable current limit may vary by firmware version; confirm before deployment.
