Technical overview
- The SIM8262E-M2 module is based on Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 and supports 3GPP 5G Release 16 plus NSA/SA networks on bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n71, n77, n78, n79.
- The HAT board provides an M.2 B KEY slot compatible with the SIM8202X-M2, SIM8200EA-M2, and SIM8262X-M2 series; RM500U-CN, RM500Q-CN, RM500Q-GL, RM500Q-AE, and RM502Q-AE are also listed as compatible.
- Interfaces include a USB 3.1 port (backward compatible with USB 2.0) for connecting to a PC, Raspberry Pi, or Jetson Nano; a USB-C connector supplies external 5 V / 3 A power via a switch.
- Two SIM slots support dual-card single-standby; by default the SIM1 slot is active, while SIM2 is on the rear side and requires module support and switching via AT command.
- Onboard components include four IPEX antenna ports (factory-default SMA terminations), an audio port with NAU8810X chip (only supported by SIM82XX series), a cooling fan, a reset button, a power switch, and a status LED.
- DIP switches control GPIO connections: switch No. 1 enables Raspberry Pi D5 as a shutdown input, and switch No. 2 pulls D4 low to reset the module.
- GNSS reception covers GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS; for SIM8262E-M2 the GNSS antenna connection is listed simply as ANT (incomplete in source).
- Supported operating systems: Windows, Linux, Android; communication protocols include TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, Multi-PDP, FTP, HTTPS, MQTT(S), DNS, SSL3.0; dial-up via RNDIS, NDIS, PPP, MBIM.
- Module dimensions: 52.0 × 30.0 × 2.3 mm, operating temperature −30 °C to +70 °C, supply voltage 3.135–4.4 V; maximum output current 3 A.
- Compatible modules verified in the M.2 slot: Fibocom FM650-CN/FM160-EAU, SIMCom SIM8202G/SIM8262E/SIM8262A, Quectel RM520N-GL/RM530N-GL/RM500U-CN/RM500Q-GL/RM502Q-AE.

Notes and version constraints
- The GNSS antenna port for the SIM8262E-M2 is listed only as “ANT” without a number in the source; the exact port mapping must be verified before commissioning.
- Compatibility with other M.2 modules depends on pin layout; a practical test connection is required before using a different module.
- Manual driver installation under Windows may show several unknown devices; each device needs its own driver update.
- Dual-SIM operation (SIM2) requires that the installed module supports this feature; otherwise only SIM1 remains available.
- Prolonged fan operation can increase noise due to lubricant evaporation; this is normal and does not indicate a fault.
- If the M.2 connector has come off along with the copper foil, the board is generally not repairable; gentle side-to-side wiggle removal is recommended.
