Summary

The Waveshare Dust Sensor uses an onboard GP2Y1010AU0F and provides an analog output that is proportional to dust density. The module supports a wide supply range via an embedded voltage boost circuit.

Technical overview

  • Sensitivity: 0.5 V per 100 µg/m³; measurement range up to 500 µg/m³.
  • Supply voltage: 2.5 V to 5.5 V; maximum operating current 20 mA.
  • Operating temperature: −10 °C to 65 °C; storage temperature: −20 °C to 80 °C.
  • Dimensions: 46 mm × 45.5 mm × 21 mm; mounting hole diameter 2.0 mm; air hole 9.0 mm.
  • Control principle: set ILED HIGH, wait 0.28 ms, then sample AOUT because the output reaches steady state after 0.28 ms.
  • Raspberry Pi Pico connection example: VCC to 3.3 V, GND to GND, AOUT to GP26, ILED to GP22.
  • Arduino UNO connection example: VCC to 5 V, GND to GND, AOUT to A0, ILED to D7.
  • STM32F103R example: AOUT to GPIOA.6, ILED to GPIOA.7; USART2 serial at 115200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo apt-get install p7zip-full
cd ~
sudo wget https://files.waveshare.com/upload/2/2a/Dust-Sensor-code.7z
7z x Dust-Sensor-code.7z -o./Dust-Sensor-code
cd ~/Dust-Sensor-code/Pico/c/build/
export PICO_SDK_PATH=../../pico-sdk
cmake ..
make -j9
cp main.uf2 /media/pi/RPI-RP2/

Notes and version constraints

  • The shown pin mappings apply to the listed example boards; other boards require modified wiring and code.
  • The provided Pico MicroPython firmware (v1.15) may cause abnormal runtime behavior with different firmware; the supplied firmware is recommended for testing.
  • The STM32 examples are based on STM32F103RBT6 and STM32H743; other STM32 boards need custom adaptation.
  • The Arduino examples target the Arduino UNO; other Arduino boards require changed connections.
  • The PM2.5 AQI reference table in the source contains obvious typos (“Serious pullution”); exact thresholds should be verified by a specialist before publication.
