Summary

The USB 3.2 Gen1 5G DONGLE is an expansion board for 4G/5G modules with an M.2 interface. It acts as a driver and power unit connecting modules like SIM82XX, RM50XX or FM650 to PCs (Windows), Raspberry Pi, and Jetson Nano. Without a compatible 5G/4G module, the board does not function on its own.

Technical overview

  • Requires an external 5G or 4G module with an M.2 Key B interface; the board does not work without a module.
  • Supports 5G modules in 3042/3052 packages from the SIM82XX, RM50XX, and FM650XX series.
  • Four IPEX antenna connectors (Gen 4) are onboard.
  • A USB 3.2 Type-C port handles data transfer, firmware updates, and external power input.
  • Onboard voltage translator circuit supports 5–12 V via a DC 3.5 mm jack or 5 V/2 A via the USB 3.2 port.
  • Two SIM slots (standard + eSIM) enable dual-SIM single standby, switchable via AT command.
  • Aluminum alloy enclosure with CNC-machined openings; suitable for desktop or wall mounting.
  • Network and power LEDs indicate module operating status.
  • Compatible with mainstream 5G modules from SIMCom, Quectel, and Fibocom, provided the M.2 pinout matches.

Notes and version constraints

  • The board strictly requires a compatible 5G/4G module; standalone use is not possible.
  • Before connecting other modules, verify the M.2 pinout to avoid conflicts.
  • On Raspberry Pi, "modemmanager" and "network-manager" must be uninstalled before testing.
  • USB power supply on Raspberry Pi may be insufficient; if issues occur, use an external 5 V/3 A power supply via EXT PWR.
  • Speed measurements depend heavily on base station distance, load, operator limits, and indoor attenuation; lab values are not guaranteed under real-world conditions.
  • Firmware versions and drivers must match the specific module; verify exact compatibility per module manufacturer.
  • The listed AT commands apply primarily to Quectel RM50XX modules; other manufacturers may require different commands.
