Summary

The module extends the Raspberry Pi Pico family with I2C-controlled driving of up to four DC motors via a TB6612FNG dual H-bridge and a PCA9685 PWM driver.

Technical overview

  • Control is via I2C; five address jumpers allow 32 different I2C addresses.
  • Integrated 5 V regulator provides up to 3 A output current; operating voltage at VIN is 6–12 V, logic level 3.3 V.
  • PCA9685 generates 12-bit hardware PWM for motor speed control.
  • TB6612FNG is a dual H-bridge driver with high efficiency and low heat generation.
  • Unused Pico pins are broken out for easy extension.
  • Dimensions: 65 × 56 mm, hole diameter 3.0 mm.
  • For MicroPython: flash firmware via the RPI-RP2 drive entry, then run PCA9685.py; demo spins motors A/B forward at full speed (2 s) and reverse at half speed (4 s).
  • For C/C++: create project in VSCode with the pico-vscode extension, compile and flash the .uf2.
  • For Arduino: install Arduino-Pico Core in the IDE, load example project and upload.
  • Two demos available: C and MicroPython, each with identical motor behavior.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo apt upgrade thonny

Notes and version constraints

  • No explicit command lines besides the Thonny update command in the source; other commands are not specified.
  • Exact pinout and jumper configuration must be taken from the schematic; only general statements are given here.
  • Version-sensitive steps (e.g., Thonny v3.3.3 on Windows, pico-vscode v1.87.0+) require manual verification of the local environment.
  • The source contains no prices, stock levels, certifications or warranty information; such details must not be added.
