Summary

The SIM7600SA-H is a 4G/3G/2G/GNSS module in HAT form factor for the Raspberry Pi. It covers bands for Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan (China), and Latin America and supports telephony, SMS, TCP/IP data transmission, and GNSS positioning.

Technical overview

  • The module features a 40-pin GPIO expansion header for connecting to host boards such as Jetson Nano or Arduino.
  • It supports dial-up, calls, SMS, email, TCP, UDP, DTMF, HTTP, FTP, and other network protocols.
  • GNSS capabilities include GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, and LBS base station positioning.
  • Baud rate range: 300 bps to 4 Mbps; default 115200 bps.
  • The board includes a SIM card slot supporting 1.8 V and 3 V SIM cards.
  • An onboard TF card slot allows storing files and messages.
  • An onboard audio jack and audio decoder chip enable telephone calls.
  • Two LED indicators monitor the module's working status.
  • Operating voltage can be set to 3.3 V or 5 V via jumper.
  • Shipped with online resources and demos for Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Arduino, and STM32.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

AT+CGPSNMEAPORTCFG=3
AT+CGPSNMEA=197119
AT+CGPSINFOCFG=10,31
AT+CGPSAUTO=1
AT+CRESET

Notes and version constraints

  • The exact band coverage of the SA variant must be confirmed against local network data before purchase.
  • When using with a 5 V MCU, the VCCIO solder pad must be manually changed to 5 V; this requires soldering work.
  • Forced firmware flashing is done by short-circuiting two pads; use only when normal flashing fails.
  • The new version powers on automatically by default (PWR shorted to 3V3); remove the jumper for manual power control.
  • Flight mode jumper is not enabled by default; to control via Raspberry Pi pins, set the jumper between Flight and D4.
  • MMS is not supported by the SIM7600x series.
  • The reset pin was not broken out because it only resets a small subset of functions (similar to AT+CRESET).
