Technical overview

  • RP2040: dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ up to 133 MHz, 264 KB SRAM, 2 MB Flash
  • 26 multi-function GPIO pins; 2× SPI, 2× I2C, 2× UART, 3× 12-bit ADC, 16 PWM channels
  • 8 PIO state machines for custom peripheral emulation
  • USB 1.1 device and host; drag-and-drop firmware flashing via mass storage
  • Low-power sleep and dormant modes; onboard temperature sensor
  • Castellated module: can be soldered directly onto carrier boards
  • Development environments: Thonny (MicroPython), VSCode + pico-vscode (C/C++), Arduino IDE
  • Firmware flashing: hold BOOT while connecting USB → RMD appears → copy .uf2
  • For RP2040/RP2350 boards: press BOOT + RESET together, release RESET first then BOOT
  • Sample projects: LED, traffic light, burglar alarm, potentiometer, WS2812, LCD1602-I2C

Commands and examples – verify before use:

set(PICO_BOARD pico CACHE STRING "Board type")

Notes and version constraints

  • The displayed path configurations (cmake, git, ninja, python) apply to the Windows environment; other operating systems require adaptation
  • Version-sensitive steps: VSCode v1.87.0+; CMake 3.28.6; Ninja 1.12.1; Python 3.12.1; toolchain 13.2.Rel1 (ARM) or RISCV.13.3 (RISCV)
  • CMake files must not contain Chinese characters, otherwise import may fail
  • For interference issues: initialize input-state pins with pull-up/pull-down; replace faulty USB cable
  • No warranty, certification, or pricing information in the source; these items require separate confirmation
