Summary

The SIM7080G Cat-M/NB-IoT HAT by Waveshare is a HAT module for Raspberry Pi with integrated NB-IoT/Cat-M(eMTC) connectivity and GNSS positioning. It supports globally available frequency bands, various communication protocols, and provides UART, USB, and GPIO interfaces for connecting to host boards.

Notes and version constraints

  • Only 1.8 V SIM cards are supported; 3 V cards are not available.
  • Network registration may be delayed; local mobile providers should be consulted.
  • Ordinary phone SIM cards are not supported; an NB-IoT or eMTC-capable card is required.
  • Cellular network and GNSS positioning cannot be used simultaneously according to the source.
  • If there is no signal: fix the network mode (AT+CMNB=2 for NB-IoT, AT+CMNB=1 for Cat-M) and set LTE mode (AT+CNMP=38).
  • Sample files referenced in the source (e.g., code archive) should be verified for completeness and version before use.
  • Some steps are version-sensitive; when in doubt, have a human confirm the configuration.
