Summary

The SIM800C GSM/GPRS HAT is a 2G communication module that plugs onto a Raspberry Pi (2B/3B/3B+/Zero/Zero W) via the 40-pin header. It supports SMS, GPRS, DTMF, HTTP, FTP, MMS and email, plus Bluetooth 3.0. Control is via AT commands; the serial interface uses automatic baud-rate detection between 1200 and 115200 baud.

  • Frequency bands: GSM 850 / EGSM 900 / DCS 1800 / PCS 1900 MHz with quad-band auto-search.
  • Power class: Class 4 (2 W at 850/900 MHz), Class 1 (1 W at 1800/1900 MHz).
  • GPRS: multi-slot class 12 by default, configurable to classes 1–12; data rates up to about 85.6 kbps.
  • Serial interfaces: two UARTs (RX1/TX1 and RX2/TX2); automatic baud-rate detection from 1200 to 115200 baud.
  • AT command set: 3GPP TS 27.007, 27.005 and SIMCOM extended AT commands.
  • Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR; supports SPP, OPP, HFP/HSP.
  • Two status LEDs: PWR (red = powered) and NET (blink patterns indicate network registration or transmission).
  • Power supply: 5 V; operating temperature −40 °C to 85 °C; dimensions 30.2 × 65 mm.
  • Jumpers: VCCIO selects 3.3 V or 5 V I/O voltage; PWR jumper connects to Raspberry Pi pin P4 by default.
