Technical overview

  • Interfaces: A (Pin5), B (Pin11), C (Pin15), D (Pin14), E (Pin13), F (Pin12) for buttons; X (Pin1) and Y (Pin2) as analog joystick outputs; P (Pin8) for the joystick press button; buzzer on Pin0.
  • Operating voltage: 5 V; batteries: 14500 lithium batteries.
  • Dimensions: approx. 150 mm x 50 mm.
  • Battery indicator blinks 1/2/3/4 times corresponding to 25%/50%/75%/100% charge levels.
  • Programming: MakeCode (TypeScript) using the WSJoyStick package from GitHub; MicroPython requires no explicit initialization because it happens at instantiation.
  • Available demos: TypeScript demo as a .hex file, wireless NRF sample (sender/receiver), MicroPython demo, and snake game.
  • Wireless example: radio.setGroup(255); two micro:bit boards are required, one flashed with NRF_Send and the other with NRF_Receive.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

radio.setGroup(255)

Notes and version constraints

  • Exact firmware version and compatibility with newer micro:bit revisions are not specified in the source.
  • No information about certifications, warranty or safety compliance is present in the source text.
  • Prices, availability and purchase offers were intentionally omitted.
  • The wireless demo requires two separate micro:bit hardware units; single-unit operation is therefore not possible.
