Summary

The Waveshare 3-channel relay expansion connects three relays to the Jetson Nano via a standard 40-pin GPIO header. Optocoupler isolation separates the high-voltage side, and jumpers/LEDs indicate channel status.

Technical overview

  • Standard 40-pin GPIO header for direct stacking onto the Jetson Nano.
  • Each relay is rated for up to 5 A at 250 V AC or 5 A at 30 V DC.
  • Optocoupler isolation prevents interference from the high-voltage circuit.
  • Onboard indicators show each relay’s operating status.
  • Relay control pins are selectable with jumpers (e.g., P21/P16 for CH1).
  • An acrylic bottom panel isolates the Jetson Nano from the expansion board.

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo apt-get install p7zip
wget https://files.waveshare.com/wiki/3-CH%20Relay%20for%20Jetson%20Nano/3-CH_Realy_for_jetsonnano.7z
7zr x 3-CH_Realy_for_jetsonnano.7z -r -o./3-CH_Realy_for_jetsonnano
cd 3-CH_Realy_for_jetsonnano/
sudo python test.py
sudo apt install python3-pip
sudo pip3 install bottle
cd python-bottle
sudo python3 main.py

Notes and version constraints

  • Exact jumper assignments depend on the hardware revision; verify against the board before testing.
  • The web control interface requires a reachable Jetson Nano IP; determine the address within your local network.
  • Downloading the demo file requires an active internet connection during setup.
  • Maximum load per relay is limited to 5 A – higher currents can damage components.
