  • Supports 18650 Li batteries (not included); capacity: 4 battery slots
  • Dimensions: 100 mm × 79 mm; mounting hole pattern: 2.5 mm
  • I2C bus for real-time monitoring of battery voltage, current, power, and remaining capacity
  • Multiple battery protection circuits: overcharge/over-discharge, overcurrent, short-circuit, reverse-polarity protection, plus equalizing charge
  • Onboard 5 V regulator with up to 5 A continuous output current
  • Battery warning LEDs indicate whether each battery is connected correctly
  • Connects to the Jetson Nano via pogo pins; set the power switch to OFF before installing batteries

Commands and examples – verify before use:

sudo apt-get install python3-smbus
wget https://files.waveshare.com/upload/a/a2/UPS_Power_Module_B.zip
unzip UPS_Power_Module_B.zip
cd UPS_Power_Module_B
python3 INA219.py

Notes and version constraints

  • After first installation or replacement of the batteries, press the boot button to activate the circuit
  • A negative current reading means the batteries are discharging; a positive reading means they are charging
  • Sustained operation at 5 A causes heating; no more than 4 A is recommended for long-term use
  • Use only the supplied charger; other sources may damage the module due to excessive ripple
  • If a battery is connected in reverse, the warning LED lights up; charging in this state is prohibited
  • Standby duration is approximately 10–12 hours; a full charge from empty takes about 4 hours
  • Li-ion batteries have limited cycle life and should be replaced after reaching maximum cycles or two years, whichever comes first
