Summary
The Pico-LCD-1.8 is a 1.8-inch TFT display module (160×128 pixels, 65K colors) with an ST7735S controller and a 4-wire SPI interface for the Raspberry Pi Pico/Pico 2.

Technical overview
- Supply voltage: 2.6–5.5 V; operating current approx. 40 mA.
- Display type: active-matrix TFT, resolution 128(H)×160(V), pixel pitch 0.219 mm, display area 28.03×35.04 mm, housing 34.5×52.00 mm.
- The ST7735S controller supports RGB444/RGB565/RGB666 input formats; the demo uses RGB565.
- 4-wire SPI: CSX active low, D/CX = 0 for commands, = 1 for data, SDA carries RGB data, SCL is the clock signal.
- SPI timing: CPHA=0 (data captured on first clock edge), CPOL=0 (clock idle low); transmission MSB first, 8 bits per cycle via SPI1.
- Pin mapping: VCC→VSYS, GND→GND, DIN→GP11 (MOSI), CLK→GP10 (SCK), CS→GP9, DC→GP8, RST→GP12, BL→GP13.
- Compiling the C demo: cmake -DPICO_BOARD=pico -DPICO_PLATFORM=rp2040 .. (or pico2/rp2350), then make -j9 produces main.uf2.
- Flashing: hold BOOTSET, connect via USB, copy main.uf2 to the recognized drive (RPI-RP2 or RP2350).
Commands and examples – verify before use:
sudo apt-get install p7zip-full
cd ~
sudo wget https://files.waveshare.com/wiki/common/Pico_code.7z
7z x Pico_code.7z -o./Pico_code
cd ~/Pico_code/c/build/
cmake -DPICO_BOARD=pico -DPICO_PLATFORM=rp2040 ..
make -j9
cp main.uf2 /media/pi/RPI-RP2/
cmake -DPICO_BOARD=pico2 -DPICO_PLATFORM=rp2350 ..
cp main.uf2 /media/pi/RP2350
Notes and version constraints
- Exact pin mapping may vary by Pico revision or expansion board; verify orientation using the USB silkscreen before soldering.
- The C demo requires a correct PICO_SDK_PATH environment variable; an incorrect path causes compilation failures.
- MicroPython requires a recent Thonny version (v3.3.3 cited for Windows); older versions lack the Pico package.
- Firmware file names (rp2-pico-… or rp2-pcio2-…) are version-dependent and may not match other firmware states.
- The source contains placeholders such as {{{name2}}} through {{{name6}}} and truncated sections – full details on the GUI API and LVGL must be supplemented from additional sources.
